Sheehy's Liverpool jingle gets a cartoon version

Richy Sheehy’s unforgettable Liverpool jingle is showing no signs of getting old just yet, with a cartoon version now doing the rounds.

The Cork comedian ended up everywhere from Sky’s Soccer AM to a stage in front of Anfield after posting a short video as Kevin Murphy, Cork’s biggest Liverpool fan.

In the clip he sang a tribute to Liverpool attacking players, set to the tune of sixties hit ‘Sugar, Sugar’ and it has proven insanely catchy.

The video was also perfectly timed, coming out the week Liverpool ended Manchester City’s long unbeaten run in the Premier League.

The match featured goals from three of the players mentioned in the jingle - Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino.

English YouTube animation channel 442oons decided to combine the match and the tune in their latest parody clip and the result is highly entertaining.

An animated Jurgen Klopp taunts Pep Guardiola before revealing their secret weapon - Cork’s biggest Liverpool fan. Klopp and the team all dance along as Richy’s jingle is played over cartoons of the three footballer’s goals against Manchester City.

442oons aren’t the only ones who can’t seem to get the song out of their heads. West Ham defender James Collins hummed it as he walked to the dressing room at the weekend and British Olympian Samantha Quek posted her own version on Twitter.

Even opposition fans are getting in on the act, with a Manchester United supporter recording a truly terrible version of the song mentioning David de Gea, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia.

Most importantly for Richy, who is a lifelong Liverpool fan, the team themselves have also seen his video. It has been shared by a number of former players, including Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler, and Richy has been invited to meet the current squad at Anfield next week. He will also be chatting about the whole experience with Ray Darcy tomorrow night, when he joins him on The Ray D’Arcy Show.
