CORK’S two dancing athletes have made it to the final eight of RTÉ’s Dancing with the Stars.
Camogie star Anna Geary and Olympian Rob Heffernan live to dance another day after Maia Dunphy was the third celebrity to be eliminated from the series.
Following last week’s enthralling performance during ‘movie week’ all eyes were on Anna and her partner Kai Widdrington to see if they could continue their winning streak.
They did not disappoint when they performed a passionate Paso Doble.
“I was trying to think of my game face,” said Anna, following the performance which earned her 22 points.
“I worked really hard to understand the character of the paso but hopefully I did it tonight.”
Judge Julian Benson declared the performance “platinum,” saying that he loved it.
After taking on Beetlejuice last week Rob Heffernan and Emily Barker danced the Viennese Waltz to Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
“It was a very tough week. It was a tough emotion to face,” said Rob. “But you have to let yourself go so it’s nice to make progress. Everyone has lost someone so when you go into those emotions it’s tough,” he added.
Commenting on their performance Julian said: “ Rob tonight was your night... tonight we saw the true dancer on the floor.”
Speaking about her elimination from the show, Maia Dunphy said: “It has been amazing, especially meeting Robert. I’ve had a ball.”
Next week is ‘switch-up’ week on which will see the remaining celebrities paired with a new professional dancer.
