BLOOD-thirsty vampires and zombies took to the waters of Myrtleville to raise awareness of blood donations for the Cork University Children's Unit.

More than one hundred swimmers took part in the event in bright sunshine and calm sea conditions on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend.

As well as raising awareness of the importance of blood donations, the event also doubled as a general fundraiser for the CUH children's unit.
