A CAR was found burnt out on Claycastle beach in Youghal on Sunday morning.
Gardaí are aware of the incident but no arrests have been made and there are reports that those involved in burning the car were not from the area.
The incident is the latest act of antisocial and criminal behaviour to affect the seaside town since the recent spell of hot weather began.
It comes days after a teenage boy from Cork city was left facing surgery after an assault with a hurley on another beach near Youghal.
The 16-year-old, from the north side of Cork City, had gone to the Front Strand, in Youghal, on Thursday afternoon, with a group of friends, to enjoy the good weather.
A friend of the teenager said the boy and his friends were challenged by a man who was there with a woman and child.
The incident turned violent when a hurley was produced and the teenage boy was knocked unconscious by a blow to the head.
A witness described him as lying ‘in a pool of blood’.
There were a large number of sunbathers, including many children, still on the beach at the time, and many of them were in shock.
