Glanmire Community College sweep the boards at Student Enterprise Regional Final

SEVEN Transition Year Mini Companies participated in the LEO South Cork Student Enterprise Programme Regional Finals in County Hall.
The students had previously submitted a detailed business plan of their companies. On the day they were interviewed about their experiences by representatives from the world of Business. Glanmire Community College won three of the six categories.
Smart Guards (Matthew Brewster, Ronan Browne, Oisin Hedderman and James Byers) who innovatively produced a sports sock that allows for the shin guard to be inserted into the sock was presented with best overall company on the day.
They now go forward to represent GCC in the All Ireland Final in Croke Park on May 2. They were presented with their prize by Cllr Mary Rose Desmond, Deputy Mayor of Co Cork.
The other GCC companies who attended were Beauty in the Bag, Dandy’s Journey, TY Hoodies and Paint N Spray also performed very well. All students participated in a workshop presented by Margaret McCarthy from Monforts College of Performing Arts. They learned about confidence building and public speaking.
