Celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin back to aid Field of Dreams

Celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin will be in Cork next month for an event to raise funds for Down Syndrome Cork's Field of Dreams project.

‘An Evening with Diarmuid Gavin’ takes place in Rochestown Park on Saturday, April 7. 

Kicking off with a drinks reception, Diarmuid will take to the floor at 8pm, bringing us on a humorous romp through his wonderful adventures in gardening. 

Well known for his gardening prowess his wit and his charm, this is the first time Diarmuid has brought his show to Cork, and all proceeds will directly benefit the Field of Dreams.

The Field of Dreams is the latest project undertaken by Down Syndrome Cork to create opportunities for its members. Its aim is to provide opportunities for its adult members to achieve productive, meaningful and active lives. 

This innovative project is in addition to all the existing services provided by DS Cork to its 380 member families. The Field of Dreams Work & Life Skills Programme has been tailored to meet the specific needs of adults with Down Syndrome and is successfully helping them achieve skills and opportunities that help them access employment.

Additionally, a one-day Activation Programme is also running on a ten-week trial basis, to allow participants enjoy catering, horticulture, arts & crafts, social experiences in this truly wonderful, holistic site. 

Less than six months since opening, the Field of Dreams is having an immediate and beneficial impact on the adults who attend there and their families.

Diarmuid Gavin has already visited the project in Curraheen lending his support.

Tickets for ‘An Evening with Diarmuid Gavin’ are priced at €25. The event also includes a drinks reception, a raffle, and a Q&A session with Diarmuid. Tickets will be available at the following; Atkins Garden World, Griffins Garden Centre, Bandon Garden Centre, Botanic Home & Garden, Fota Retail Park and Down Syndrome Cork.
