THE Polish woman injured by a gang who killed her husband in their home a week ago is to be discharged from hospital.
Elzbieta Wilk was due to be discharged from Cork University Hospital this weekend as she and extended family members are trying to come to terms with the murder of her husband Mikolaj.
The 35-year-old dad of two young children died after being attacked with machetes at around 3am last Sunday morning.
He died at Cork University Hospital two hours after the vicious attack.
The BMW linked to the attack was found burnt out in Waterfall after fire personnel responded to a call about a car fire in the area.
Tonight, members of the Polish community will gather at the Church of St Mary and St John this evening for a special Mass for the dead man and his family.
Extended family members have travelled from Poland to provide support and help to Elzbieta and her young children. They are preparing funeral arrangements for Mikolaj, who was very popular and well respected.
