Two men escaped serious injury in overnight Douglas Road crash

Two men had a close call last night as the car they were travelling in crashed in Douglas.

The car collided with several poles and brought down power lines before being stopped by a lamp post on the Douglas Road. The engine was thrown from the vehicle such was the force of the crash.

The two passengers had to be cut out of the vehicle by Fire Brigade personnel.

Gardaí in Anglesea Street are investigating the single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at 2.15am this morning.

The two young men were brought to Cork University Hospital and were treated for what was described as minor injuries.
