Four quizzed as €38k of drugs found

Gardai are to prepare files for the DPP following the release of four young men after two separate drug seizures in Cork over the weekend, worth a combined €38,000.

In the first operation, gardaí seized €20,000 worth of cannabis, MDMA, cocaine and ketamine after raiding a house in the Curraheen area of Bishopstown at around 8pm on Friday night.

Two males, both aged 26, were arrested and taken to Togher Garda Station.

Both were held overnight and questioned but were released without charge the following day.

In a separate operation, gardaí in Cobh seized €18,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis on Saturday night after they stopped and searched a car at Belvelly in Cobh at 10.30pm.

Two males, a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old, were arrested at the scene.

They were taken to Cobh Garda Station and held overnight for questioning under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

They were released without charge at 5pm on Sunday evening, with a file to be prepared for the DPP.
