Rare Midleton whiskey expected to fetch €15,000 in auction

Alan Campbell, Willie Aherne and Anthony Sheehy of the Irish Whiskey Auctions. Their next online auction includes a rare bottle of Midleton 30th Anniversary Pearl Edition whiskey, which is expected to sell for €15,000.

A RARE Cork whiskey is expected to sell for €15,000 when it comes to auction later this month.

The bottle of Midleton 30th Anniversary Pearl Edition is one of more than 200 lots that will be listed on an online auction, which goes live on November 16.

It is one of only 117 bottles of the whiskey available worldwide, hence the eye-watering price tag.

Cork whiskeys are proving very popular with bidders. The Irish Whiskey Auctions company had its first auction last month, with 167 lots up for sale and buyers logging on and bidding from Ireland, UK, Germany, USA and Singapore. Among the lots sold was the complete collection of Irish Midleton Very Rare (34 bottles) selling for €36,100 to a publican from Waterford.

“In January this year, the idea of building Irish Whiskey Auctions came to me during a conversation in L. Mulligan whiskey shop, Dublin,” founder Anthony Sheehy said. “In less than one year we have superseded all our expectations.”

Running for nine days, the next online auction launches on Friday, November 16 at 5pm and runs until 7pm on Sunday, November 25.
