AFTER a Cork-based comedy duo reached semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent (BGT) last year, judges are set to arrive on Leeside next month to search out more talent.
Auditions for the popular variety talent show have been announced for Cork on November 23 between 2pm and 7pm at the Ambassador hotel on Military Hill.
However, organisers are remaining tight-lipped on whether any of the celebrity judges that make the show a TV ratings hit will appear in the city.
The booking for the venue has been made by Syco Entertainment a British entertainment company run by pop mogul Simon Cowell who has appeared as a judge on the show alongside Amanda Holden, Piers Morgan, David Hasselhoff, Michael McIntyre, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
Cork has a previous track record in the competition with singing taxi driver Darragh McGann wowing judges with his version of Danny Boy back in 2014.
In 2017, Cork comedy duo Lords of Strut bowed out of BGT after making it all the way to the semi-final.
The lads, Cormac Mohally from Cork and Cian Kinsella from Carlow, but living in Cork, strutted their stuff on the BGT stage to Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round” but just missed out on a place in the final.
Ambassador Hotel general manager Eoin Daly said details around the auditions have not fully emerged as of yet. “We know very little about the booking,” he told the Evening Echo.
“Judging by the capacity they are looking for it may just be three judges in a room and they will screen them and see what they are like and tell them if they are going to be moved onto the next audition. I don't know if we'll see any of the celebrity judges.
