Bob Geldof speaks with Cork students about W.B Yeats

Geldof visited Coláiste Choilm and its sister school Gaelcholáiste Choilm to share his passion for the poetry of Yeats which is a dominant feature of Ireland's school curriculum.

The singer was commissioned by RTE to produce a two-part documentary on Yeats as part of the centenary commemorations of 1916.

In the documentary, Geldof traced how W.B. Yeats led the way in imagining a new, proud, strong Ireland into being after the Famine – and how, after centuries of colonial oppression, he gave the people of Ireland back a story they could believe in and fight for.
