Planning permission has been granted for a new bar on Maylor Street.
James Carney had lodged plans in February to change the use of the three-storey premises at 6 Maylor Street from retail use to public house.
Permission was also sought for improvement works including the repair of the roof and external walls, along with alterations to front including new glazing to existing upper-level opening formerly used as warehouse loading doors.
A new entrance and signage will also be added along with an external smoking terrace to the rear of the premises. The building is located across the street from Smyth’s toys.
According to planning documents, the venue will open each day from midday to midnight.
This month, planners gave the go-ahead for the development.
It is one of a range of new developments under construction or in planning at the eastern edge of the city centre including a new hotel and an expanded music venue in Cyprus Avenue.
