THE spectacular Summer’s Evening on the Quad was one of the highlights of an action-packed weekend on Leeside.
The outdoor concert at University College Cork took place on a balmy summer’s evening on Saturday and is expected to raise up to €60,000 for Cork charities.
The Definitive Rat Pack, joined by soul diva Karen Underwood, backed once again by 20-piece Band of An Garda Síochána, played all the big-band favourites and soul classics to an audience of more than 2,000 people.
The concert has become one of the stand-out shows on Cork’s social calendar and Underwood had the audience dancing in the aisles with her booming renditions of classic hits by Billie Holliday, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse.
This year’s initiative is set to drum up a total of more than €60,000 for charities across Cork, including the Westgate Foundation, Dogs for the Disabled and Diabetes Ireland.
