THE Cork headquarters of the Together for Yes campaign is to reopen on Thursday as a combined bookshop and creative space.

Situated at 14 Father Mathew Quay, it will be run by Rebel Reads, and will be a space for community activities.

Kathy D’Arcy was the chairperson of Cork Together for Yes and is a member of the new organisation.

“The Cork Together for Yes office became a really welcoming, positive, inclusive space, over the course of the campaign, and this is a great way to continue to run 14 Father Mathew Quay, for the whole community,” she said.

Doors will open formally on July 19, at 10am, with a film screening at 8pm. The space will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 10am-6pm.

Rebel Reads say they are providing a badly needed hub for a variety of groups.

“Cork is full of a vibrant sense of community, with an abundance of progressive, creative, talented people across various fields — from activists to musicians, to artists and beyond,” the group said in a statement.

“We want to establish a centre for all of this activity, while creating an open space in the city.

“As the second biggest city in the Republic, Cork has a real need for a community hub, where independent and progressive groups can meet, work together, share resources, organise fun events, have days of action, or simply to socialise.”

Ms D’Arcy said the group is looking for members to support their plans.

“We are dependent on monthly donations from members to keep this space open.

“You can sign up at, if you’d like to help,” she said.

“You can also find out more about the project, and what we plan to do, on our website, on twitter @RebelReadsCork, or by calling in to chat to us,” she said.
