Stabbing victim laid to rest in native Clonakilty

THE man stabbed to death in Macroom in the early hours of Monday morning was laid to rest in his native Clonakilty yesterday.

Family and friends turned out at the Parish Church in the town for 11.30am Mass, before Timmy Foley was laid to rest in the nearby St Mary’s Cemetery.

Among the mourners were his two children, Chantel and Mike. He had been living with his brother Jason in Dan Corkery Place in Macroom.

Jason was treated in hospital for injuries after emergency services were called to the house early on Monday.

Timmy’s ex-wife, Rita O’Driscoll, was charged with his murder on Wednesday and appeared before Macroom district court. She has been remanded in custody until a sitting of Macroom District Court on October 17.
