A PEDESTRIAN has died following a road accident in Blackpool.

The man in his 30s, who is originally from Croatia, was struck by an articulated lorry on the inbound dual carriageway. The incident took place near the traffic lights at the junction with Assumption Road.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The man was tended to at the scene by gardaí and paramedics who administered CPR.

Two units of the ambulance service attended the scene. However, the man was subsequently pronounced dead.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the North City Link Road at Blackpool.
