Ms McCarthy, who took over as Director less than a year ago, said: “We intend building on the success of 2018, collaborating with our cultural partners in the city and nationally, as well as with the wider corporate and civic organisations to ensure Crawford experiences are available and accessible to many.”

She believes working together with Fáilte Ireland and others is important to the gallery’s success and said the Crawford team work hard to create exhibitions and projects that capture the public imagination.

“We will not take for granted people’s curiosity and generosity, we will try to build that and meet our diverse audience’s expectations of us,” she said.

“We have some very exciting exhibitions and one off events planned and an engaged Learn and Explore programme.

“We will continue to challenge ourselves as to how to work with artists and present their ambitions and communicate with our publics. We passionately believe in Cork’s future and intend working closely with all those committed to making Cork a truly great European city to work and live in.”
