A Status Yellow warning has been issued by Met Éireann for snow and ice from 9pm this evening.
Forecasters said icy and slippery conditions are expected due to an accumulation of ice and snow on untreated surfaces.
While scattered sleet and snow showers will most frequently occur across Ulster and Connacht there will be flurries further south.
Accumulations generally between 1cm-2cm are expected.
The weather warning is in effect from 9pm tonight until 7pm tomorrow.
Met Éireann said the forecast for Munster this evening is for rain that will clear eastwards, followed by scattered wintry showers of rain, hail and sleet, with snow on high ground.
Cold with lowest temperatures of zero to minus 2 degrees, with frost forming and ice on untreated surfaces.
