Unaccompanied Cork driver has their car seized and destroyed

Gardaí in Cork have seized and destroyed the vehicle of an unaccompanied learner driver who had no insurance.

The vehicle was apprehended by gardaí in Fermoy and they issued a stern warning to other motorists that driving unaccompanied without insurance will result in their vehicle being taken from the,

"Learner Permit? Yes.

Accompanied? Nope.

Insurance? Nope.

Car Seized? You bet," the gardaí said in a Facebook post.

"The driver also signed a waiver to allow us to destroy this car. This isn’t about having no choice, or earning a crust. If you choose to drive unaccompanied with no insurance, we’ll choose to take your car. Simple."
