€60,000 worth of cannabis seized on southside of Cork city

GARDAÍ have arrested a man in his 20s and seized approximately €60,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb following a search at an apartment in Summerhill South last night.
Shortly before 8pm, Gardaí from Divisional Drugs Unit in Anglesea St executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Summerhill South area. During the search, Gardaí seized €60,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb and €100 euro worth of suspected cocaine which will now be sent for analysis.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and brought to Bridewell Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The arrest is the latest in a series of significant seizures by Cork members of An Garda Síochána's Drugs Unit.
On Monday, shortly before 7pm, the Mallow District Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a house in Ballyviniter, Mallow. They discovered a grow house containing €26,000 worth of cannabis plants and €26,300 worth of cannabis herb.
No arrests were made in relation to this incident and the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier this month, gardaí also made seizures in Kanturk, worth €5,900, and Midleton, worth an estimated €9,000. They also reported the discovery of growhouses in Bandon and Ballinhassig at the end of October.
