Driver released from custody after pedestrian is killed on the Airport Road

The driver of a car arrested in connection the death of a pedestrian on Cork's Airport Road on Saturday morning has been released without charge.
The incident occurred shortly after 5.30am.
A male pedestrian, in his late 40s, was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. The driver of the car was arrested and and taken to Togher Cards Station..
The body of the man was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The driver, a man in his 60s, was subsequently released a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardai continue to appeal for witnesses.
