A CORK model has swopped the catwalks of New York for the runways of Milan for the next few weeks.
Clara McSweeney from Kilmurry, near Macroom, arrived in Milan on Sunday to take part in a number of fashion assignments with international agency Next. Her sister Ava said Clara will remain in Milan until June 8 – during which time she is likely to meet up with members of her family who will fly to Italy.
Clara moved to New York in September 2015 to take up a lucrative modelling career, just months after sitting her Leaving Certificate exams at St Mary’s Secondary School in Macroom.
A year ago, she featured in an advert for Fuji Film beside supermodel Helena Christensen.
The 20-year-old debuted her New York career in October 2015, by treading the catwalk for Bridal Fashion Week in a pink gown by renowned designer Naeem Khan. The gown is among Khan’s floral-inspired bridal collection and Clara modelled it with a floral crown.
The blonde beauty is 5ft 11in tall – a height which makes her suitable for catwalk work.
She got involved in modelling after her mum asked if she would like to do a boot camp with Irish model Andrea Roche’s agency in Dublin. She has juggled school and modelling for the past three years.
