Arrest made after man confronted by knife-wielding raider in his home

GARDAÍ made an arrest today in connection with an incident in which a man was confronted by a knife-wielding raider at his home in Cork city.

The incident happened at a house on Barrack Street at around 7pm on January 11, when a raider demanded cash from the occupant of the house.

The masked man had forced his way into the house. He left the scene with a sum of money.

This morning, a man in his 30s was arrested and taken to the Bridewell garda station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was on Barrack Street on January 11 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm who may have witnessed any suspicious activity to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on (021) 4522000.
