MEMBERS of An Garda Siochána and the public attended a Mass in Kilbrittain on Saturday night to remember murder victim Ann Corcoran.

Ms Corcoran disappeared from her home just outside Kilbrittain 10 years ago. Her body was later recovered in a wood, after a massive search operation.

Ann Corcoran was just 60 years old when she was murdered.

Her killer, Bandon man Oliver Hayes, is serving a life sentence for her murder.

The mass took place in the local church where her funeral Mass was held a decade ago, beside the cemetery where she now lies with her beloved husband, Jerry.

Saturday’s Mass was followed by the unveiling of a plaque in honour of all those who helped search for her when she disappeared a decade ago.

The plaque, donated by a relative of Ann Corcoran was unveiled in the local community centre, which was the focal point for the large numbers of people who came to Kilbrittain to search for her.

Ms Corcoran was just 60-years-old when she was killed. She lived on her own with her two dogs after the death of her husband Jerry in 2007. The couple had no children.

Ms Corcoran was abducted by Oliver Hayes on January 18 and murdered. Mr Hayes withdrew €3,000 from her bank account. At the time of the killing, he owed thousands of euro in bills.
