The annual transformation of Bishop Lucey’s Park into a winter wonderland is underway.
The work for Glow Cork began over the weekend, with the park now closed until after Christmas.
Glow Cork will begin on Friday 30 November and run until 22 December.
As well as the winter wonderland in Bishop Lucey Park, there will also be Christmas Markets and a Ferris Wheel on Grand Parade from 30 November until 6 January.
Last year 160,000 thousand people visited Glow Cork and this year is expected to be just as busy.
The theme for this year’s Glow festival has not yet been announced, but in recent years it has been a recreation of Narnia, and Santa’s Cork Workshop.
Since 2017, GLOW has also been making efforts to be more environmentally friendly.
All food packaging, cups, and plates supplied by our market traders are compostable, and in 2016 over 30% of all waste produced at GLOW being diverted away from landfill to the more environmentally friendly composting and recycling routes.
