Cork up first for ‘Irish Revolution’ screening

A CORK audience will get an exclusive first look at one of the biggest Irish TV programmes of 2019 in January when an episode of upcoming series The Irish Revolution is screened in The Opera House.

The three-part documentary, due to be aired on RTÉ in February, is based on the bestselling Atlas of the Irish Revolution and is narrated by Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy.

The atlas is the work of a group of historians and academics from UCC and covers the story of the revolution as it played out across all 32 counties, including hundreds of images and maps.

Profits from the special preview will go the local charity Cork Penny Dinners and President Michael D Higgins is attending the event, which will be followed by a panel discussion.

Tickets for the screening of The Irish Revolution on January 29 cost €5 and are available at www.corkoperahouse.ie.
