CORK star Demi Isaac Oviawe has become the latest contestant to be voted off Dancing with the Stars.

The Young Offenders star lost out in the dreaded dance-off to comedian Fred Cooke who was unanimously chosen by the judges to stay in the competition.

Demi had one of her strongest performances of the series in the dance-off with her partner Kai Widdrington, and was praised for a strong ballroom dance.

Speaking following the elimination, an emotional Demi said she went on the show to step out of her comfort zone and wanted to inspire young girls to follow their dreams.

“I wanted to prove to the country that I can be just Demi,” she added.

Meanwhile, fellow Corkonian and rugby legend Peter Stringer survived to dance another day.

The former Munster scrum-half racked up 25 points for a Charleston to Paolo Nutini’s ‘Pencil Full of Lead’.

Judge Brian Redmond said it was Stringer’s “best dance so far”, while fellow judge Loraine Barry praised the former scrum-half’s “superb” lifts.

The highest points on the night went to actor Johnny Ward, who danced a rumba with his partner Emily Barker to ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ by James Arthur. Earning 27 points from the judges, it was one of the Fair City actor’s strongest performances yet.
