Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in his 40s following a theft from car, possession of stolen goods and a criminal damage incident on Infirmary Road yesterday.
Shortly after 5.30pm, Gardaí received a report of a man acting suspiciously on Infirmary Road. Gardaí from the Anglesea Street District on patrol attended the scene and arrested the man whilst stealing items from a car. He was also found to be in possession of a number of stolen items.
He was arrested at the scene and brought to Bridewell Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He has since been charged and is due to appear for the courts at a later date.
Speaking at Anglesea Street Garda Station, Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Tony Davis said: "This is another timely reminder for the need to lock our cars and to not leave any valuables in them. Criminals are going around and trying car doors until they get one that is unlocked, so let’s not make it easy for them."
"Wherever you park your vehicle, ensure that you always take your property with you and that the car is locked, alarmed and parked in a secure, well-lit location."
