Man's body recovered from the River Lee following overnight search
The man's body was recovered from the river close to Thomas Davis Bridge.

The body of a man was recovered from the River Lee this morning following an overnight search by emergency services.

The man was recovered from the water close Thomas Davis Bridge on the Lee Road at around noon today.

Gardaí and the fire service were alerted shortly before midnight last night that a person had gone missing from close to the river.

Members of the Ballincollig Fire Service as well as Cork City Fire Brigade, An Garda Siochana and the voluntary Cork Missing Person Search and Recovery group were involved in the search and recovery.

A garda spokesperson said they were investigating a sudden death incident and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

It is understood the death is not being treated as suspicious.
