Fire disrupted Cork to Dublin train service
Emergency services dealing with a fire in Portarlington close to the Cork to Dublin rail line.

A fire yesterday near the train line in Portarlington brought the Cork to Dublin train service to a temporary halt.

While the fire department made their way to the scene all services had been stopped, causing delays for any train that would have to pass through Portarlington, including the Cork to Dublin service.

An Irish Rail spokesperson confirmed that trains had temporarily been stopped while emergency services attended to the scene.

It was shortly confirmed later that trains were operating again but not stopping at Portarlington Station while the area was cleared.
