Man in hospital following suspected Cork city centre knife attack 

A man is in Cork University Hospital following a knife attack in Cork city centre this afternoon. 

The stabbing took place at before 1pm at Anglesea Terrace, metres away from the city’s main Garda station and the district courthouse.

Investigating Gardaí said that the incident was “not life-threatening”, however the victim sustained facial injuries and is currently in CUH receiving treatment.

At present, a person is in custody in relation to the incident and Gardaí are waiting to speak to the victim and for an official complaint to be made.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to the public for witnesses to come forward in relation to the incident.
