THE third annual Music Cork festival, already established as a lively networking and showcasing event, has been further boosted by a high-profile partnership with 2fm.
One of the station’s top DJs will be in town for the event, taking place this year from May 1-3, as will acts from the 2FM Rising list — the best of new and upcoming Irish talent and music.
“One of the key goals of Music Cork is to connect the best new Irish acts with the premier music industry figures who come from the UK, Europe and US to be with us for these three days in Cork,” Jim Lawless, one of the organisers of Music Cork said. “Partnering with 2FM Rising to bring their pick of the best emerging talent in Ireland is an obvious way to help achieve that.”
Flynn, Pillow Queens and Mango x Mathman will all perform at the opening night show in Cyprus Avenue on May 1. 2fm DJ Tracy Clifford will MC the show and will also DJ at the aftershow. On the same day, Tracy will also broadcast live from the 2fm Roadcaster in Cork city and on Thursday, May 2, 2fm will be live from the daytime conference at the Clayton Hotel.
“We are very pleased to be involved in Music Cork 2019,” Alan Swan, Director of music at RTÉ 2fm said. “It’s exactly these kind of opportunities we want to give the 2fm Rising artists, for them to have the chance to play in front of this calibre of industry professionals and ultimately make concrete steps to reach a wider audience for their music.”
Music Cork once again welcomes a host of music industry professionals to the city for the three-day event comprising insightful discussion, workshops, and high calibre panels.
Speakers already announced include Lucy Dickins, senior agent at ITB (Mumford & Sons, Adele), James Whitting, partner at Coda (Imagine Dragons, Ellie Goulding), Sarah Desmond of Universal Music Group, Cesar Andion of Live Nation Spain, and Catherine Grieves, a music supervisor who has worked on shows for HBO, Channel 4 and Netflix.
