Focus Ireland recruiting for sleepout as they aim to shine a light on homelessness

CORK business leaders are being asked to forgo their warm bed for a night to raise funds for homeless charity Focus Ireland.
The rate of homelessness in Cork is increasing at an alarming rate with 402 people currently without a home. In an effort to combat the problem Focus Ireland are running their annual fundraising Shine A Light Night, sponsored by Bord Gáis Energy on Spike Island.
It challenges business leaders across Ireland to sleep out for one night to raise funds.
In Cork, Focus Ireland provides prevention and housing advice, support services for families, support services for young people, short and long-term housing, and research-based services. On Friday, October 18, the 8th annual Shine A Light Night will take place and Focus Ireland are looking for people to take part. Speaking at the launch, Pat Dennigan, CEO Focus Ireland said: “Focus Ireland works tirelessly with people experiencing homelessness to help them secure their home or to ensure they leave homelessness for good.”
