Elderly man killed in Fermoy crash 

AN elderly man was killed in a fatal crash in Fermoy this afternoon. 

Gardaí are investigating the collision which occurred at Mill Road, Fermoy, at approximately 2.10pm.

A man in his 70s, the sole occupant of the car, was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a pole. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital. 

The road was closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination but has since reopened.
