The Clonakilty Street Carnival returns this June, with a maritime theme to pay homage to the seaside town.
Clonakilty Street Carnival takes place throughout the town on Saturday 15th June when the town centre will be completely pedestrianised from 9 AM to 9 PM.
Carnival fever will sweep across the town with activities for all the family to enjoy. Families can enjoy live music throughout the day, along with face painting, crazy golf, bouncy castles, magicians, ping pong and much more.
Clonakilty was Ireland's first Autism-Friendly town and keeping in line with that, organisers have teamed up with Autism Awareness Group and Sensational Kids to create a designated sensory and quiet area to the Family Fun Zone.
The organiser of the Family Area, Michelle Mitton thinks this addition to the Family Fun Zone is important.
Michelle said, “we see this as an important new addition to the Carnival. We wanted to provide as much fun for the children who find some of the noisier elements too much. As Ireland’s first Autism Friendly town we are always striving to be inclusive of all our community.”
Tickets are now available for the dinner party that will take over Main Street, with the top local cuisines serving up fresh seafood to diners. Carnival organisers are expecting to feed up to 1,200 people Dinner begins at 3 PM and tickets for adults are €15 while child tickets are €7.
Part of the Clonakilty Carnival Committee, Kevin O'Regan is eager to welcome people to the West Cork town once again.
Kevin said: “The Clonakilty Street Carnival is set to be another fantastic festival event for our town and we look forward to welcoming visitors on the day.”
