One of the key figures of the Madchester scene in the 1980s, Happy Mondays have announced they’ll be playing in Cyprus Avenue this December.
Fronted by Shaun Ryder, Happy Mondays were one of the most influential bands from an era when Manchester dominated the music scene.
Happy Mondays will be setting off on a mammoth tour in October across the UK and Ireland, which will include a stopover at Cyprus Avenue on December 3rd.
Their third album Pills N Thrills and Bellyaches went platinum in the early nineties and launched them into the mainstream and ended up defining a generation.
The band will embark on a Greatest Hits tour, which will include favourites such as ‘Step On’, ‘24-Hour Party People’, ‘Loose Fit’ and more.
Supporting them on the night will be Jon Da Silva, another man who was infamous to the Madchester sound as a resident DJ in the legendary nightclub Hacienda.
Speaking about the upcoming tour, Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder said: “It will be great to be back out on the road with Happy Mondays for some pre-Christmas partying! Looking forward to playing all the hits and more at these shows.”
Tickets cost €43.50 and go on sale on Monday 10th June from the Old Oak on Oliver Plunkett Street.
