THE Criminal Assets Bureau are this morning swooping on addresses across Cork's northside in an operation targeting a gang suspected of crimes against the elderly.
The CAB officers are also joined by Customs officials in an operation which got underway after 6am. The officers met in Ballyvolane before targeting a property in the White's Cross area. They also targeted ten other premises.
The gang being targeted in the operation are suspected of pressurising elderly people to carry out home improvements at high costs. The gang is also being investigated in relation to burglaries, drugs offences and fraud.
This morning's operation also involves the garda dog unit and mounted unit, as well as the regional support unit and the Emergency Response Unit.
