A man has been rescued from the sea off Youghal this afternoon.

The person got into difficulty in rough seas close to the local lighthouse.

A major emergency operation got underway and the person was taken from the water.

The Coastguard, RNLI, gardai and the National Ambulance Service were involved in the rescue.
