The chief executive officer of Cork University Hospital has announced that he will leave his post at the end of next month to take up a role in the private sector.

In an email to colleagues, Tony McNamara said he will leave the post he has held for 27 years at the end of June 2019.

“It is with some sadness that I write to inform you of my intention to vacate the position of CEO at the end of June 2019, to accept opportunities in the private sector,” he said, in an email circulated to CUH staff at lunchtime today.

“I have been privileged to lead this outstanding hospital for over 27 years and I am deeply grateful to all staff past and present who have contributed to the delivery of compassionate care to patients and to the development of services in the hospital.”
