SUMMER has arrived, with forecasters predicting a prolonged period of warm, dry weather.

We can all look forward to blue skies and sunshine over the next seven days, according to Met Eireann.

Temperatures will settle in the mid-to-high teen on most days, with little or no rain for the week ahead.

With Wednesday and Thursday of next week predicted to be the warmest days of the year so far, it's time to get the suncream and shades out.

The warm spell is set to last for at least a week.
