Outdoor cinema seems to be the hottest ticket in town with another venue showing a movie in the midst of nature this month.
Earlier in the summer, there were screenings in Farran Woods and Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium with an upcoming screening taking place Fitzgerald Park.
Now Fota House and Gardens, near the famous Wildlife Park, is added tot he list playing host to The Pop Up Movie Club this Sunday, 25th August.
Two wholesome movies are being shown on the day to suit young and old with the children’s modern classic Finding Nemo playing from 5pm to 7.30pm and Bohemian Rhapsody screening from 8.15pm to 11pm.
Finding Nemo is a G rated movie, suitable for the whole family. Although there is parking at the venue, people are encouraged to take the train from Kent Station Cork to Fota Train Station.
The Fota Train Station is a 13-minute walk to Fota House where the film is being shown.
Finding Nemo is a delightful movie about a young clownfish, Nemo, who swims to close to the surface and is caught by a diver. A blue reef fish named Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, joins forces with Nemo’s dad Marlin to get him back.
For Finding Nemo, ticket prices range from €16.90 for adults to €10.40 for under 16s. A family ticket (four people) is €42.80 while a premium family ticket, which air chairs, is €60.
For Bohemian Rhapsody, which is rated 12A, a single ticket is €16.60.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a look at the life of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury.
The venue recommends carpooling to the evening screening as parking is limited.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a deckchair and blanket, and enjoy the outdoor screening in the beautiful surroundings of Fota House.
