Mourners gather to offer sympathies to the family of Mossie Keane

Maurice ‘Mossie’ Keane, the father of Cork soccer legend Roy Keane passed away yesterday.

His removal took place from O’Connor Bros Funeral Home, North Gate Bridge this evening to the Church of The Resurrection, Farranree where his Requiem Mass takes place tomorrow followed by funeral to St Catherine’s Cemetery, Kilcully.

Mr Keane, who became a popular figure in Cork as his son represented Manchester United, Celtic, and Ireland.

Mr Keane worked at the Sunbeam plant in Blackpool when he lived in Mayfield with his wife Marie.

The family moved to Rathpeacon in the late 1990s.

They have five children, Denis, Johnson, Hilary, Roy, and Pat.
