A historical treasure hunt takes place in Clonakilty this weekend

CLONAKILTY will host a number of historical guided tours and a treasure hunt for kids for Heritage week from today right up until Sunday, August 25.

A children's historical treasure hunt of the town suitable for children between five and 12 years of age goes on all week. 

Simply collect the clue forms at the Michael Collins House and other local venues. It will explore the history of the town and is an outdoor event. Forms for the treasure hunt can be filled out at Michael Collins House.

This Sunday will see a guided historical walk of the town starting at the Michael Collins statue at 7pm. On Monday local historians Diarmuid Kingston and Michael O' Mahony will lead an exploration of Timoleague Abbey.

Another historical walk around the town is scheduled for Wednesday at 7pm. On Saturday there will be a guided tour of Desertserges with local historian and author Con McCarthy. Meet outside the Lyre Bar at 2pm. See www.duchasclonakiltyheritage.com or www.facebook.com/DuchasClon for more details.
