Man arrested after a car crashed into the wall of The Spaniard pub in Kinsale
Emergency services responded to a crash at The Spaniard pub in Kinsale this evening.

A man in his 60s was arrested at Scilly in Kinsale this evening after a car crashed into the front wall of The Spaniard pub.

The incident occurred at around 6pm when a car left the road and struck The Spaniard pub near the Cork harbour town.

Emergency services including fire units and ambulances were called to the scene.

Two people were injured in the incident and an air ambulance helicopter was called in to assist in transport.

However, emergency medicine consultant, Dr Jason van der Velde, who attended the scene confirmed to The Echo that the air ambulance was not needed in the end.

He said the patients were tended to at the scene and were not in need of air transfers.

Dr Van der Velde also confirmed that the pub suffered damage in the incident.

Gardaí said a man was arrested following the crash and taken to Bandon Garda Station but was released without charge.
