Cork Gardaí have issued a witness appeal following what appears to be a hit and run in the city.

Gardaí told The Echo they are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of an injured man on Upper John Street last weekend.

The 26-year-old man was taken to Cork University Hospital on Sunday, August 25, with serious injuries following an incident on Saturday, August 24, and currently remains at the hospital receiving treatment.

Gardaí are appealing for assistance in their enquiries.

“Gardai would ask any persons who were in the area between 11:30pm and 12:00am and may have witnessed anything, or any motorists travelling on the road around those times who may have Dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Watercourse Road Garda Station on 021 4558 261 or The Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
