Gardai carry out door to door inquiries in Cork following alleged sexual assault

Gardaí in Cork have carried out door-to-door inquiries in the Ballyphehane area in recent days following an alleged sexual assault on Saturday night.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that gardaí were investigating an alleged sexual assault which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 24 in the vicinity of Connolly Road and Vicars Road in Ballyphehane.

The alleged incident was described as "serious" and occurred between the hours of 4am and 7am.

The Echo understands that gardaí carried out door-to-door inquiries in the Connolly Road area in recent days following the incident.

Gardaí in Togher, Cork are appealing for witnesses in relation to this investigation.

Gardaí have said they wish to make contact with any persons who were in the Connolly Road and Vicars Road area between 4am and 7am on the morning of Saturday, August 24 who noticed anything suspicious.

Motorists who may have dashcam footage are also asked to please contact investigating Gardaí at the incident room at Togher Garda Station on 021-494712, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
