Former Christian Brother accused of indecently assaulting boy at North Mon

A  FORMER Christian Brother was before Cork District Court today facing a charge of indecently assaulting a 14-year-old boy at the North Monastery secondary school in Cork in 1981.

Edward Bryan, aged 65, of Dugort, Achill Island, County Mayo, was formally arrested by Detective Garda Eimear Brennan and charged. He made no reply to the charge.

He was accused that on a date between November 1 and December 31, 1981, he indecently assaulted a 14-year-old boy.

Sergeant John Kelleher said at Cork District Court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed trial by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

The case was adjourned until September 2 for preparation and service of a book of evidence.
