Some elective procedures were cancelled at Cork University Hospital today following a power outage last night.
Cork City Fire Brigade attended the hospital last night after a power outage affected some areas of the hospital.
Back-up power sources were put in place but some elective procedures were cancelled this morning and a review is to be carried out.
A spokesperson for the hospital explained:
“Cork University Hospital can confirm that there was a temporary power outage in some areas of the hospital last night and the Cork City Fire Brigade attended the hospital.
“Back-up power sources were implemented and in the interest of patient safety, some elective procedures were cancelled this morning while a review is undertaken.
“CUH expects to return to full service later this morning,” she added.
“All urgent procedures are being undertaken as normal.
“The hospital will contact all affected patients to advise on a date for a re-scheduled procedure.”
