Thousands of runners and walkers are taking part in today's Echo Women's Mini Marathon.

More than 7,000 runners are participating and raising funds for hundreds of different charities.
Hailed as Munster’s premier women’s road race, it has grown to become one of the biggest sporting participation events in the region.

The race attracts women (and a few men!) of all ages and abilities, who are instrumental in supporting local and national charities.
Today's race will be run over 6km, starting on the Centre Park Rd and taking in the Marina, Blackrock Village, Ballintemple, Maryville, and Monahan Rd, before finishing in Kennedy Park.

Previous winners include Cork Olympians Lizzie Lee and Michelle Finn. The event is chip-timed and all registered participants will receive a specially designed event medal on completion of the Mini Marathon which will be presented in Kennedy Park.
Water and fresh fruit will be available at the finish of the race, sponsored by Tesco.
